How to Measure a Garage Door Torsion Spring

1. Measure wire size
Measure 20 coils and divide by 20. Example: 4.50" ÷ 20 = .225 wire.
2. Measure spring length
Measure the relaxed spring coil body only. Do not include cones.
3. Check ID + wind
Most residential springs are 2" ID. Red and black usually mark opposite wind directions.
